K9 Officer/Corporal James (Bo) Skinner and Bojar

Our K9 Officer/Corporal is James (Bo) Skinner. Officer Skinner was hired by the Butler County Sheriff's Department in September 2008 as a Road Officer. In January of 2015 he was promoted to K9 Officer. In Spring of 2015 the department purchased Bojar from Riverview Canine. Riverview canine had purchased Bojar from Elite K9. Bojar was born in Czechoslovakia in 2014. He is a black and tan German Shephard. Officer Skinner and Bojar completed their training with Riverview canine in May 2015. The training is directed by Mike Ervin and Jeff Bourben. Officer Skinner and Bojar continue with their training twice a month. Bojar is certified annually for narcotics detection through Missouri Police Canine Association. He is trained for narcotics detection, apprehension, and officer protection. Bojar is currently being sponsored by Orschelin's and Pet's Way for dog food, Hillcrest Animal Hospital for vet care, and Doggie Designs for bathing. Thanks to the many businesses and private individuals who have helped to keep the K9 program going.
